    Late January - middle school applications received by schools

    Mid-April - placement letters sent to families

    Mid-June - Community Action School orientation for new students and their families

    Summer - assessments at the school for new students

    Admissions Rubric



    Community Action School will use the following admissions rubric to screen and assess applicants for the 2019-2020 school year:

    · Personal and Academic Behaviors- 40%

    · New York State Test Scores- 30%

    · Classroom Grades- 15%

    · Attendance and Punctuality- 15%

    January and February Interviews

    Community Action School will set up interviews for applicants starting mid/late January 2020. If you do not hear from the school and would like to set up an interview, contact Parent Coordinator, Karla Fittipaldi, by calling the main office at 212.678.5888.

    Preparing for the Interview

    All Community Action School applicants are interviewed by a staff member. During the interview, students will be asked about their experiences in elementary school, their favorite classes and their successes in the classroom. Applicants should bring a portfolio of their fifth grade work.

    What are we looking for?

    Community Action School is committed to serving a diverse student body, with a range of academic ability. We welcome both general and special education students, and help each student reach full potential. We are looking for students who are motivated learners good classroom citizens, demonstrated in an interview and from comments from elementary school teachers.
